2016 Met Gala - Best and Worst

The 2016 Met Gala happened recently and with it came many interesting fashion and styling choices. So, here are some of my best and worst dressed from this year’s futuristic themed met gala.

WORST LOOKS IMO:

Juno Temple in Erdem || What I dislike about this look is that it's just too much. There's no reference to the body and the diamond shapes going across her torso are very unflattering and widening. I don't like the sleeves or the cuff and the colors remind me of Frozen.

Saorise Ronan in Christopher Kane || I think she looks like some strange bird; maybe a flamingo/swan hybrid of sorts. I would say take off the feathers and the random butterfly decal, but underneath it all is a really boring dress. So instead I'll say, just get a new dress.

Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana || There were so many looks from the Met Gala by D&G that I loved but this was not one of them. With the heavy beading on the bust and the embellished bottom hemline, it's all too much and not flattering to her figure. The silhouette is very straight up and down and I think she could have done much better.

Lady Gaga in Versace || I know that Gaga is all about her crazy looks such as her infamous meat dress, but this is not good at all. It looks to me that she woke up after a night out of drinking and thought, "oh crap! I have to go to the met gala tonight!!!" and she scrambled and freaked out and went through her wardrobe like a mad woman and found whatever she could and during her hangover state, she forgot her pants. AlejandrNO.

Zoe Kravitz in Valentino || This was particularly dissappointing because Zoe Kravtiz is one of my favorite style icons and Valentino is one of my favorite designers. This look just had too much going on. With the dead butterfly dress, the rotting bird on her head and the hairballs on her feet...it's a mess. Choose one over the top element and take the other two away because less is more.

Solange Knowles || The first thought that came to me when I saw this was pasta. She just looks like pasta noodles! And then the thigh high latex yellow tights...no. She remind me of someone from one of those old Nickelodeon shows like LazyTown or The Telletubbies on meth. The final verdict - everything Solange can do, Beyonce can do better. #sorrynotsorry

Nicki Minaj in Moschino || I do not like this look because for one thing, she looks extremely uncomfortable and it's just very hookerish looking to me. She is quite covered up for her as she usually shows a lot of leg. I do have to admit though that everytime I see this picture, I keep thinking her boob is her shoulder...

Kris Jenner in Balmain || I think that what I don't like about this is how covered up she is. There's no reference to the body or sex appeal; it's all very dark and heavy and that choker necklace kind of gives her a triple chin. Her eye makeup is way too dark and smokey, however, the nude lip was a good choice to contrast all the heavy, dramatic eye makeup.

Irina Shayk in Givenchy || She looks like the american flag except that there's no red except for the red carpet. I don't like the scoop that the the dress does underneath the bust and the ruffles on each side make her hips look wider in an unflattering way. The strap on the ankle of her shoes make her legs appear shorter and the entire look is just not pretty and her boobs don't seem to fit.

Demi Lovato in Moschino || I've literally hated every Moschino look I've come across at the Met Gala and that's a shame because it's one of my favorites. I don't like that there's so much going on in this dress. There's the yellow embroidered looking details, then the super shiny sequined parts and pops of black in places that don't need it. I'm also not a fan of the way her hair is styled.

Ellie Bamber in Anna Hu || This kind of looks like a marshmallow or a bubble. And then there's just random splotches of weird stuff all over the place and the cut of the bust looks very strange in proportion to the volume on the bottom of the dress.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Monse || I'll be honest, I've never heard of Monse before but from this, I don't like it. SJP has always had a unique way of dressing but this is a little underwhelming for something as fancy and big as the Met Gala. Many people said that this look was disrespectful. I don't think she was trying to be disrespectful but this looked very outdated and out of place for an event like this. It looks very 2000s to me.

Will.i.am in Gucci || This looked very gladiator meets amish to me. The sleeve decor is beautiful but the cuffs do not match the rest of it at all. The hat is what makes it look amish to me along with the tie/collar. The thing covering his face brings in the weird gladiator/robot vibe and I'm overall not into this look. It's very disjointed to me.

Charlotte Casiraghi in Gucci || There are many things I don't like about this dress. First, the colors. Second, the silhouette and lastly, the detailing. The lace detailing going vertically between her boobs looks really weird and the ruffles look bad and the colors look like fairy vomit. Just keeping it real #sorrynotsorry.

Jamie Bochert || I have never heard of Jamie Bochert before but now every time I hear something about her I will forever think of this hideous dress that looks like one of those weird blankets/curtains that "psychics" put on their little "magic" table before they go to "read your palms" and "predict your future". I predict this look getting a 0/10 for me.

Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton || I don't like the bra/bustier element of this dress because it looks like a vest that 2013 Selena Gomez would wear on the red carpet to the premiere of the Wizards of Waverly Place movie. I also dislike the shoes with this outfit, however, on their own, I think the shoes are adorable.

Grimes in Louis Vuitton || I really didn't want to put Grimes on this list because I love her music so much but I just don't really like this dress. It looks too "chill" and too "street" for an event of this kind of importance. Many of the looks I haven't liked from the Met Gala this year have been Louis Vuitton actually, which is sad because I love that brand.

Lara Stone in Tom Ford || What I dislike most about this look is the cut of the neckline. I think it looks kind of strange and very unflattering for her body. I don't like the long sleeves and I think the whole thing just looks a little gaudy and kind of tacky.

Julie Macklowe in Philipp Plein || I think she took the futuristic theme just a bit too far.

Agyness Deyn in Kenzo || Again, as I've said before, there is no reference to the body. Everything is very straight and boxy and not doing anything for her figure. I usually love purple but I'm actually not too crazy about this royal purple color against her skin tone.

Lisa Marie Falcone in Zaldy || This looks something either Cher or Lady Gaga would wear and I really don't like it. I don't know who Lisa Marie Falcone is but she looks to be in her 50s or 60s and I think someone of that age, at that point in her life, should not be showing so much skin; there's a difference between classy and trashy and this is the latter.

Stacy Martin in Miu Miu || I think the print looks like an old tablecloth or some dusty curtains from the 1700s. Not cute, very grandma.

Tabitha Simmons in Dolce & Gabbana || I love Dolce & Gabbana so much but this looks really bad to me. The sleeves are the main problem for me because of how dramatic they are and it's just very Game of Thrones and not in a good way. The styling is very off as well with the choker necklace and the hair pulled back like that. It looks very stern and kind of scary.

BEST LOOKS IMO:

Taylor Swift in Louis Vuitton || I'm not too crazy about Taylor's new hair but I love her outfit and the shoes and everything! She looks beautiful and everything is styled very well and the fit is perfect.

Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen || I really like the print on this, I love the sleeves with the cape in the back and her hair and makeup look flawless.

Bella Hadid in Givenchy || I think the fabric at the bottom is a little much but she's so tall and her torso is so lengthy that she pulls it off well and doesn't look short or overwhelmed by the fabric.

Beyonce in Givenchy || When I first saw this, I didn't like it but as I kept looking, it really grew on me and ended up being one of my favorite looks of the night. I think the puffy sleeves also nicely balance out her.....prominent..butt....and I love the color against her skin tone.

Blake Lively in Burberry || I'm not a fan of the red patches coming out of her top but the rest of it is so beautiful and ethereal and Blake looks radiant as always.

Naomi Campbell in Roberto Cavalli

Zoey Deutch in Dolce & Gabbana

Rachel McAdams in Valentino

Lucky Blue Smith and Pyper America Smith in H&M || He's just so pretty.

Kate Hudson in Versace

Hannah Davis in Zuhair Murad

Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa

Kylie Jenner in Balmain || Queen as always. Slay.

Joan Smalls in Balmain

Naomie Harris in Burberry

Zoe Saldana in Dolce and Gabbana || This might actually be my favorite look of the night!

Aja Naomi King || I think this color looks so beautiful against her skin. Her hair and makeup look absolutely gorgeous as well.

Rita Ora in Vera Wang

Claire Danes in Zac Posen || She looks like a modern Cinderella!

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton || I actually hated this look at first but now I love the whole thing; it's just so unique and Alicia looks beautiful.

Poppy Delevinge in Marchesa || The dress and jewelry are gorgeous and I love her hair and makeup so much; one of my favorites.

Mackenzie Davis in Altuzarra

Nina Dobrev in Marchesa
