Music of the Month

This will be the first post for my 'music' part of my blog and I'm very excited! Every month, I will feature 5 of my favorite artists and link some songs of theirs for you to listen to. Hopefully this will lead you to discover some new music and maybe find a favorite new artist. I really wanted to write about music on this blog because music is my favorite thing after fashion and I think it's important on a fashion blog to not only write about current trends in the fashion world, but in art, music, makeup, hair, film, etc. because many designers will take notes from other cultures and forms of expression to inspire their collections and ideas. So, here are my favorites this month and feel free to follow me on Spotify for more good music!

1) Ryn Weaver:

Born Erin Michelle Wuthrich on August 10th, 1992 in San Diego, California, Ryn Weaver became an internet sensation in 2014. Weaver is an American pop singer-songwriter who first gained attention with the release of her single ‘OctaHate’ in June 2014, which Billboard deemed as a viral sensation. Weaver’s debut album entitled ‘The Fool’ was released in June 16th, 2015 through Mad Love/Interscope Records.

2) Zella Day:

Zella Day Kerr, known as Zella Day, was born on March 13th, 1995 in Pinetop, Arizona. Zella Day made her name known as a singer-songwriter with the release of her 2012 single ‘Seven Nation Army’. Her first album entitled ‘Powered by Love’ was released on February 8th, 2009 and her second album ‘Kicker’ came out this year on June 2nd. iTunes released ‘Hypnotic’ as a Free Single of the Week making it the album’s second single.

3) Bleachers:

Bleachers is an American indie pop band based in New York City that was formed by Jack Antonoff of Steel Train and Fun. Bleachers’ emotional pop was heavily influenced by the 80’s and the high school based films of John Hughes while still using modern production techniques. While on the road with Fun, Jack began working on his new project during their time in different cities. Jack has said that Bleachers was not meant to be a departure from his position in Fun, and that he will remain in the band. Bleachers’ first full length album ‘Strange Desire’ was released on July 15th, 2014.

4) Oh Wonder:

Oh Wonder is comprised of two musicians Anthony and Josephine. They have been releasing a song every month for a year to release their album. It seems to have worked because it got them 6 consecutive number ones at the top of Hype Magazine. Their music has been described as “Jazz, R&B and electronic acrobatics”. Their debut album will be released in September of 2015.
