Fashion Icons Week - Cara Delevingne
For the last day of Fashion Icons Week, I've chosen the beautiful, unique, and charismatic Cara Delevingne. Cara is a woman of many talents. She is best known for her career in modelling, which began at the age of 10 when she did an editorial shot by Bruce Weber for Vogue Italia. Then, in 2009, she signed with Storm Model Management after being spotted by Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm, who also discovered model Kate Moss. Cara's first catwalk appearance was in 2011 at London Fashion Week for the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter collection. Since then, Cara has been on the cover of countless fashion magazines and is the queen of Tumblr fashion and Pinterest fashion boards. Cara is well liked because she is so different from other models in that she regularly posts pictures on Instagram of herself eating cheeseburgers and doing weird, silly things. She seems like you could just go up to her and start talking and become best friends and be weird and silly together.
In 2014, Cara won the "Model of the Year" award at the British Fashion Awards. Not only does Cara model, but she sings, plays guitar and the drums! Around the same time Cara had just started out as a model, she wrote and recorded two albums and was offered a record deal which she turned down because her name would be changed. Cara is also delving into the world of acting. She's had small parts in movies in past years but lately she's been offered bigger roles. In 2015 she will be playing the part of Margo in John Green's 'Paper Towns' alongside Nat Wolff. In 2016, Cara will be playing the part of June Moone in 'Suicide Squad' with the very famous Will Smith and Jared Leto. I think a movie with Cara Delevingne and Jared Leto will be the perfect combination of weird and beautiful.
Cara has a very unique, street style taking some style fashion cues from menswear. Most of the looks I've found for today are red carpet looks and photoshoots but if you want to check out Cara's street style, there will be an interview linked at the end that showcases some of her best street looks. So, for now here are 15 of my favorite more formal Cara looks:
